Many kennels, especially large ones, put the dogs in indoor/outdoor runs. The dogs move inside and outside when a door is lifted. This makes dog care easy, but doesn’t do much from the interaction standpoint. Because we are a medium sized kennel, we are able to hand walk all the dogs from inside to outside and from their individual runs to the play yards. We see this time as an opportunity to spend a few minutes with each dog establishing a relationship. The same is true of time spent scooping and cleaning the play yards and individual runs. Even at these times, it’s possible to spend time talking to and scratching/petting the dogs.

With the owner’s permission, we do our best to arrange playmates for the dogs, especially those that come alone. It’s our belief that boredom is the single biggest problem with a kennel stay, and so we will often try to pair single dogs up with another dog of similar size and conducive personality type. Aggressive or dominating dogs must, unfortunately remain alone. Many of our clients have commented on how their dogs look forward to their visits to the country club, and it’s our sincere belief that this is a reflection of the canine and human interactions they encounter here.  It’s likely that your dog will come from Shylo pretty “pooped out” from playing so hard.  Just like when you go on vacation, if you’ve been very active and playing hard all day, you’re going to come home fairly worn out….  

In addition to having their own indoor areas at night with “doggy hammocks” and rugs or blankets, all social dogs spend the day in one of twelve play yards.

The length of playtime is determined by the weather. The dogs will be out in play groups all day long on nice cool summer or warm winter days. If the temperature is really hot or cold , we limit the time outside based on the type of dog and the dog’s desires. As an example, on a cold winter day, a greyhound may want to be outside no more than five minutes at a time, whereas a husky may want to play in the snow for an hour or two. On a hot summer day, the roles are reversed.

We have 12 play yards, all with covered shade pavilions and “Misters” for those summer days. When the dogs are all brought in for the evening, they are all able to watch us perform our evening chores. We are usually grooming Afghans, watching the kennel TV and feeding until around 9:00pm. We feel that being able to be part of this evening routine is better than simply turning the lights off and leaving at 6 or 7pm, as some kennels do.

Our daily rates do not include pick-up/delivery, grooming, pool time, or medications.  

Kennel Rates

*The monthly rate saves approximately 1/4 off the daily rate. Because it is a discounted rate, it must be paid in advance at the beginning of each monthly period. The first month is not refundable, but subsequent partial months will be pro-rated at the monthly rate.

Other Services

If you have a pet here for an extended visit and would like to come out to visit them, you’ll find no better place. While visiting your pet, you can take them on long, off-leash walks in the country — free of traffic, other pets, and neighbors.

Our shuttle service runs Monday – Friday to most of the Denver Metro area except on major Holidays. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday we operate both an AM trip and a PM trip. On Wednesdays we have just a PM trip.  If you provide us with your zip code we can give you a 2 hour time window for when we will be there.  Customers can of course drop-off or pick-up their pets 7 days a week, but because of our location in the country many prefer the convenience of the valet service.

We have 4 options for you when it comes to grooming.

1) Just a bath which is just that, just a bath.

2) A nail trim only.

3) A grooming which is a nail trim, a bath, and a complete and thorough brush through removing dead hair and any mats.

4) A grooming with trim. This is a grooming which would include any breed specific clipping and scissoring.

We owned the grooming shop at the Mesa Veterinary Hospital as well as “Barbies at Southglenn” grooming shop for a number of years. We have extensive grooming experience which includes just about any imaginable type of dog.  We never use tranquilizers of any kind!  

Because the charges for grooming are determined by the amount of time expended we can give you an initial estimate via the phone or e-mail, and a more precise estimate once we see your dog.
