We are located just east of Aurora, Colorado, southeast of Denver International Airport. Situated in the middle of a few hundred acres of slightly rolling grassland, the kennel and our home are far enough away from anyone else for the dogs or dog barking to ever be a concern.
Because we originally built our kennel to meet the needs of our own dogs, it’s not a large impersonal kennel where the dogs are isolated from humans and other dogs. Rather, it’s a facility where the dogs are exposed to human interaction through-out the day.
During nice weather days the dogs are outside in one of our 12 play yards all day. The play yards all have sunning decks, plenty of big shade trees and shade pavillions, and “misters” during the summer.
We also have 2 separate play areas who names speak for themselves….
TINY TOWN – a place just for the little kids complete with artificial turf.
SENIOR CITY – for older dogs that need less rowdiness but still enjoy being out with other dogs.
At night and for meals, the medium and large dogs all have their own indoor chain link area with “doggy hammocks” where we make their bed each night.
At many kennels the dogs are kept inside almost all of the time and rarely go outside. Shylo is just the opposite! As long as the weather is cooperative we like for the dogs to be outside in the fresh air as much as possible. If it’s wintery out or a particularly hot day, then of course outdoor time has to be limited accordingly.
Because our history and experience is with dogs, we only take care of dogs. Unlike some kennels, we don’t house cats in the same building.
