Our regular hours are from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. every day except for major holidays. We live on site and are actually in the kennel much earlier than 8 a.m. and later than 6 p.m. Let us know your scheduling needs and we can usually accommodate them. We have special holding areas and can explain our “before hours” or “after hours” pick-up or drop off at the facility outside of our regular hours.  No one should have to be without his or her dog any longer than necessary!

We live on premises and are here 365 days a year, but are closed to the public for drop-offs, pick-ups, and tours on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving ,and Christmas Day.

Your dog must be wearing a collar. Also, if your dog needs any medications, please bring that along too.

This is not necessary, but is suggested to maintain your dog’s regularity.

While food is included in your pet’s stay, to maintain regularity or if you know your pet has a sensitive digestive track, it is suggested to bring your dog’s regular food. Generally, we suggest sending your own food along for first visits, very short stays, older dogs, and very small dogs. We feed a premium brand kibble that we use with our own show dogs and add a little chopped canned chicken or “Freshpet” to moisten the kibble and to stimulate their appetite. We also give treats before bedtime for guests with no food restrictions or if provided by the owner. If you’re sending your own food, please provide us with extra for the anticipated higher caloric burn that usually occurs during increased exercise at Shylo.

No. Since dogs tend to be possessive about their own toys, we provide lots of different chew toys, stuffed toys, Frisbees, and other toys. We have beds and plenty of rugs and blankets for sleeping. We try to discourage sending the larger dog beds along, as they are difficult to wash if they were to become soiled.

For the protection of everyone’s pets, we require all guest dogs to be current on their inoculations. This would include rabies, distemper (combo shot is okay), and bordetella. Most veterinarians agree that the bordetella vaccine is good for a year whereas the nasal spray is good for only 6 months.

We also recommend the new Giardia vaccine, though we don’t require it.  

We do require a current copy of your dog’s shot records for our files.

We suggest, but do not require, the Canine Influenza vaccine. We suggest that you check with your Veterinarian for his or her opinion.

We suggest NOT feeding or watering an hour or two prior to the trip to reduce the chances of car sickness. If you’ll be picking your dog/dogs up after hours please let us know if you’d like for them to have dinner or not that evening before their ride home.

Yes, this is quite common and something that most owners really look forward to. Just like when you go on vacation if you’ve been a lot more active than you normally are, you’re going to come home pretty worn out.

Yes, we post photos on Facebook regularly. If we missed your dog, just let us know and we can email you photos.
